Okay so this post probably isn't really what you thought it would be based on the title. I just had a funny moment at work today when an 8 year old girl on a field trip tried to give me a $1 tip. Here's what happened:
Me: *Rearranging coat racks to make room for the field trips who were leaving.*
Little Girl: *Holds out a dollar bill* Here's a tip for you miss!
Me: Pardon me?
Little Girl: It's a tip for you because I had a wonderful time at the museum today!
Me: Oh you are so sweet, but I'm sorry, I'm not supposed to take tips. I am really glad you had fun on your field trip though!
Little Girl: Oh, you really can't take tips? Well I still think the museum is great, I will be back soon!
This wasn't the first time guests have tried to tip me while working at a museum. Then I thought, wow, people have tried to tip me more in museum jobs than in my past jobs where tipping is customary. Obviously this means I am much better suited for museum work than food service.
Any other museum workers out there getting tips?
